Author's Note: This was written for all of our past heroes in the years of truimph and the many Americans who have made our country proud.
What historic events come to mind when you think about all that America has gone through? The most memorable occurrences in America were devastating and joyous. With each event came sorrow and happiness. These factors and acts combine to make America's history and pride.
When the Revolutionary War was upon us, we didn’t back down. We stood tall and proud and fought for our freedom. Our people were excellent strategists and found ways to outwit the British, warning towns “red coats” were coming to attack. When the British had arrived to capture us, we had already evacuated. All of our troops continued to fight and with our drive we came up on top.
Out of the Revolutionary War, we found our first president of America. His name was George Washington. He was the Commander of the Continental Forces, leading many into battle. Washington was the first of the long line of presidents we have had that have lead us to great victory and helped the economy.
With all of our presidents, like George, each brought something new to America. In happiness, we had John Adams help us expand our new country. Even not times of battle, we still stood tall and proud for our country. Through the years, we went through much together in battle, joy and depression. We did have some sorrow times, but we pushed through them.
Our sorrow times included the Civil War and the Great Depression. The time of the Great Depression was ten long years of little money, food and shelter. There were great debts from World War I. Many people were left with no shelter, wandering the streets in search of hope. When Franklin Roosevelt led us out of the depression, it gave us pride to know that we pulled through ten years of adversity.
We always knew we could pull through hardships, finding pride in our effort. Americans stand tall and proud and are prepared for anything life throws at us. Our history and pride have been made of the factors and acts by many Americans.
