Author’s Note: A fact of life is that you’re going to be different with everyone. You also put up walls to protect yourself. Once you find someone has diverse personalities and being specifically kind to you, the question is: would you let them in?
How do people act and look around you compared to others? Maybe they’ll be arrogant and tough, but alone with you they’ll be kind and tender-hearted. This scenario plays out in Dragon’s Oath by Kristen and P.C. Cast. The moral or message of this story is to let your guard down and let someone in because they might act different around you than others.
When Dragon Lankford comes to the House of Night in newly founded America in the 1700s, he makes quite an impression on everyone. Anastasia, the new Spells and Rituals professor, believes him to be arrogant and casts a spell that revealed Dragon’s true self. Turns out he’s not all that bad; he simply acted different around dissimilar type of people.
Sometimes you notice that people have multiple personalities inside of them. The question is: why aren’t we the same around everyone? Well, reasons could be that we want to be popular or we just don’t know how to act around various groups of people. Maybe you’ll be the loudest person screaming to the music when you’re alone and when you’re in class you’ll be the shyest person ever.
A fact everyone knows is that we put our guards up to possibly protect ourselves from being vulnerable, which is usually the case. Because when you’re susceptible, you can get hurt. No one likes it, but it a part of life. One said, “Everyone likes to be happy, nobody wants to be in pain, but you can’t have a rainbow without rain.” What happens if you let your guard down and great things happen? That just might be, who knows unless you try?
Whether it’s different personalities or deceiving looks, people will act in ways that are poles apart from one another. Perhaps it’s that you put up walls to shield yourself from being hurt or maybe you just don’t like that particular person based on how they act or appear to be to you. All of this makes readers learn that you should get to know someone because they’ll be different with everyone and that you should let them in.
