Author's Note: I read Awakened for this conflict and resolution assignment. I absolutely loved the book and the ongoing conflicts added so much more interest.
Awakened by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast has many conflicts like person vs. person and person vs. self. When innocent Zoey first started warring with her malicious ex-principal Neferet, they both gained extreme power. Now in Awakened, Neferet is at large and both women are against each other. While the two wrangle, Rephaim, half-bird son of the winged immortal Kalona, is battling himself to decide whether to follow his head to stay staunch to his dad or to follow his heart to his true love, Stevie Rae, who was unattainable by darkness.
The battle between Zoey and Neferet has not ended yet, however the series hasn't concluded and I have no knowledge of who will be victorious. On the contrary, Kalona has long returned after being banished and is expecting his son to tend to his father's every need. Zoey's goddess made an abrupt appearance at the school. Rephaim finally came to peace of mind and told Kalona that he loved Stevie Rae. Kalona released his son and wished Rephaim the best. He was finally free and his battle was over. The conflict was through as one of the issues in Awakened, yet there were more to come.
